El Diablo

A classic tequila cocktail that you don’t see very often here at home, but which is perfectly suited for a late summer party.

4 cl tequila 100 % agave blanco
2 cl fresh lime juice
1 cl sugar syrup
12 cl ginger ale
1 cl Crème de cassis

Garnish: a slice of lime

Fill a chilled highball glass with ice and build the drink in the order above. Carefully slow-pour the Crème de cassis, so that the drink has an almost “bleeding” effect. Garnish with fresh lime.

Tequila Cooler

A pleasant drink that is somewhat reminicent of a ”horse’s neck”. A juicy spiral of lime is the defining feature.

2,5 cl tequila 100 % agave silver
1,5 cl triple sec
Splash of Rose's  Lime
Top with ginger ale

Garnish: lime zest

Build ingredients over ice in a highball glass in the above order. Use a knife or a zest peeler to create a long, thick spiral of lime. The lime spiral is used as garnish and may be draped over the edge of the glass.

Buttafuoco

The name is derived from the famous Joey Buttafuoco who made headlines in the US in 1992 for his affair with 15 year-old Amy Fisher who subsequently shot Joey's wife in the face. Joey has since commited a series of crimes and the word buttafuoco has come to mean something along the lines of "fuck up" or, used as a verb when one's done something really bad. Why this drink has taken his name is a bit of a mystery, it's actually a very pleasant drink!

4 cl tequila 100 % agave blanco
1 cl Galliano
1 cl cherry liqueur
1 cl fresh lemon juice
Top with soda water

Garnish: cocktail cherry

Fill a shaker with ice and add all the ingredients apart from the soda water. Shake vigourously for ten seconds. Strain into a highball glass with a couple of ice cubes. Top with soda water and add garnish.

Sweet Tequila Collins

A twist on the classic Tom Collins cocktail, with tequila instead of gin, sweeter with more citrus.

2 cl tequila 100 % agave silver
2 cl triple sec
6 cl fresh lemon juice
3 cl sugar syrup
Splash of egg white
Top with soda water

Garinsh: cocktail cherry and a slice of lemon

Pour tequila, Cherry Heering, lime juice and sugar syrup into a chilled highball glass, half filled with ice cubes. Stir the ingredients and top with soda water. Garnish with cocktail cherry and lemon slice.

Tequila Rasperry Cooler

2,5 cl tequila 100 % agave silver
1,5 cl raspberry liqueur
Splash of Rose's Lime
Top with raspberry soda

Garnish: lime zest and raspberries

Fill a chilled highball glass with ice. Build the drink in the order above. Use a knife or a zest peeler to create a long, thin spiral of lime. The lime spiral is used as garnish and may be draped over the edge of the glass. Put a cocktail spear through a couple of fresh raspberries and place on top.

Tequonic

Who hasn’t ordered a Gin and Tonic out of lack of inspiration? I used to be one of those people too, but not anymore. If the bar has got a decent Tequila Blanco, then I’d rather pick a Tequonic, where the tequila adds more flavour and the lime gives the drink a fresh touch.

6 cl tequila 100 % agave blanco
4 cl fresh limejucie
Indian tonic

Garnish: a slice of lime

Fill a chilled highball glass with ice and build the drink in the order above. Top with tonic and garnish with fresh lime.

Chapala

4,5 cl tequila 100 % agave reposado
1,5 cl triple sec
4,5 cl fresh orange juice
2 cl fresh lemon juice
1 cl Grenadine

Fill a shaker with ice and add all the ingredients. Shake vigourously for ten seconds and strain into a highball glass half filled with crushed ice.

Jalisco Sling

Singapore Sling has been a classic drink based on gin since it was invented at Raffles hotel in Singapore. It works fantasticly well to use tequila instead of gin, a spirit that wasn’t available in that part of the world when this drink was created in the beginning of the 20th century.

4 cl tequila 100 % agave blanco
1 cl Cherry Heering
1 cl fresh lime juice
Sugar syrup
Soda water

Garinsh: cocktail cherry

Pour tequila, Cherry Heering, lime juice and sugar syrup into a chilled highball glass, half filled with ice cubes. Stir the ingredients and top with soda water. Garnish with cocktail cherry. Serve

Tequilibrio

Tequilibrio is a well known drink in Mexico but is also a play on words TEQUILA and EQUILIBRIO which means balance - put both word together and you will get TEQUILIBRIO. The drink actually has it’s own, special glass.

3 cl tequila 100 % agave reposado
Sugar syrup
Lemon juice
Orange juice juice
Top with grapefruit soda/juice

Garnish: a slice of pinapple(chopped)

Fill a shaker with ice and add all the ingredients but the soda. Crush ice and fill a highball glass/tequilibro(if you can find one) glass. Shake vigourously for ten seconds and strain into the glass, top with soda. The slice of pinapple is chopped into smaller pieces before it's put into the drink and stirred with a straw.

The Royal

Luxurious, mature drink where the soft, sweet tequila aromas meet the bitterness from the Angostura. The drink becomes sweeter towards the bottom of the glass, so the more you drink, the sweeter it gets!

A sugar cube
4-5 drops Angostura bitter
2,5 cl tequila añejo 100 % agave
Champagne (As dry as possible)

Garinsh: orange zest

Use a champagne flute. Place the sugar cube on a serviette and drip 5 drops of angostura onto it. Then place it in the glass and pour the tequila over and top with champagne. Use a knife or a zest peeler to create a long, thin spiral of orange which is dropped into the glass.

Bloody Maria

An exciting variant on the classic. Some pepper on the rim of the glass instead of salt and a tea spoon ground radish lends it a modern touch. If one wants to be brave or adventurous, simply add garlic, cummin or coriander.

4 cl tequila 100 % agave reposado
4-6 drops Tabasco
8 drops Worcestershire sauce
Celery-salt
A tsp ground radish
Lemon juice
Tomato juice

Garnish: peppered rim, celery sticks

Fill a shaker with ice and add the ingredients. Instead of shaking, stir intensely for ten seconds. Rub lime along the rim of a highball glass and pour ground pepper onto a saucer. Place the glass face down into the pepper, the lime juice will ensure that the pepper sticks. Fill with ice and the ingredients from the shaker. Slice some short, thin celery sticks which are criss-crossed over the glass for a cool finish.

Tequila Sunrise

Apart from the margarita, Tequila Sunrise has to be the world’s most celebrated tequila drink.

4 cl tequila 100 % agave reposado
Fresh orange juice
1 cl Grenadine

Garnish: orange wheel

Fill a chilled highball glass with ice. Build the drink in the order above. Carefully pour in the grenadin, this creates famous the sunrise-effect in your glass. Garnish with an orange wheel.
