On principal Iím opposed to tequila shots as it has created the biggest tequila prejudice of all Ė that tequila should be consumed exclusively as a shot, with salt and lemon. Almost everyone Iíve talked to who hasnít tried tequila 100 % agave is of the mistaken belief that tequila is a spirit that should be had in a shot glass, period. In the Mexican kitchen both the salt and the lemon are of importance to many traditional dishes, and is often found on the dinner table. While both the salt and lemon are common in the tequilas flavour palette, adding extra salt and lemon only drowns the many other flavours and aromas that tequila has to offer.  Besides, exclusive spirits should be enjoyed and savoured slowly - not just necked back as a quick way of getting drunk!

Mexicaze

A kind of Margarita-hybrid but with less lemon and more alcohol than the original.

1,5 cl tequila 100 % agave silver
1,5 cl triple sec
Splash of lemon juice
Splash of egg white

Fill a shaker with ice and add all the ingredients. Shake vigorously for ten seconds and strain into a shot- or caballito glass. Serve.

3 cl tequila 100 % agave reposado
Splash of Grenadine
Splash of ginger syrup

Garnish: gari

Fill a shaker with ice and add all the ingredients. Shake vigorously for ten seconds and strain into a shot- or caballito glass. The gari is used as garnish and may be draped over the edge of the glass.
