Vinos Y Licores Azteca was founded as a rather unique tequila house in 1999. The company is owned by Carmen Lucia Barajas Cardenas, known as “Melly” to all that work with her. Melly is one of very few women on a top-position in the Mexican tequila industry. The ranch El Rancho Valle Escondido has been in the family for more than one hundred years, and is now the site for the distillery. There are only women working at the distillery with one exception – an errand boy.

Melly and her brother Ricardo, a renowned artist and sculptor who works in stained glass, created the package for El Conde Azul. The bottles are hand-made by glass blowers in Italy and are then shipped to Mexico City where the brand name is hand-painted in 18 Karat gold.

		El Conde Azul Blanco El Conde Azul has a distinct touch of raw agave and cut vegetables, with the characteristic sweetness and fruitiness of highland tequila. Soft and sweet opening with green apples, continues with a black pepper bite and has a long, slightly bitter finish. NOTE: Launched in April 2008
